Basic
Instructions for Carousel Slide Projectors

-
Plug the power cord into
the outlet (see specific model instructions).
Most projectors use a 3-pronged, grounded plug. The use of
adapters is not recommended.
-
Allow the air to flow freely
to and from all openings in the projector housing.
-
If the remote control unit
is used, connect it to the projector with the pins properly aligned.
-
Place the slide
tray with the "0" slide slot at the Gate Index.
If the tray and projector components do not mesh, check the metal
Slide Retainer Plate on the bottom of the slide tray.
-
Turn the power to Low (Lo)
or High (Hi)
(If the model has an automatic dark-screen shutter, no light will show on
the screen until a slide is in the projector).
-
Press the Forward Button,
either on the remote control unit or on the projector, to advance the
tray.
-
Adjust the height by raising
or lowering the elevation foot.
-
If necessary, adjust the
leveling foot wheel on the back corner of the projector to level the
image on the screen.
-
Focus the image on the screen
with the lens focus knob or the remote control focus lever.
If the projector has a zoom lens, adjust the size of the image with the lens
barrel, then adjust the focus. Projectors with autofocus will remain in focus
if all slides are of the same type (if the Autofocus Switch is ON).
NOTE: The autofocus
will not adjust to a mixture of cardboard or plastic open-frame mounts
with glass-mounts. It may be necessary to adjust the focus manually for
each mount type.
-
For manual changing of slides,
keep variable timer switch off.
-
For shutdown, hold
down the SELECT button, manually rotate the slide tray to the "0" position,
and remove the tray.
Turn the power OFF (it is not necessary to run the fan to cool the lamp,
but allow the projector to cool for a while before moving it). Reset the
elevation foot, unplug and store the power cord and remote unit.
Pull the plug to disconnect, not the power cord. Retract the lens before
placing the projector in its case.
-
For slide projectors installed
in locking cabinets in classrooms - remove your tray, turn the power
off, let the projector to cool, and store it in the cabinet.
-
Please check that the projections
booth or cabinet is securely locked.
Lamps
-
If the lamp burns out, allow
the projector to cool before attempting to replace the lamp.
CIS puts a spare lamp in the carrying case of equipment loaned from the Central
Pool. Projectors permanently installed in classrooms are maintained by CIS
technicians, but lamps can burn out between inspections. Call CIS (956-8075)
for assistance or for a new lamp. Inform the technician of the location of
the projector so the proper lamp can be selected.

Instructions for Kodak Ektagraphic III Slide Projectors

Power Cord
Unwind the desired length from the
cord retainer on the bottom of the projector.
Remote Control Unit
Connect the 5-pin remote cable with the dot facing the bright
rivet head to the left of the receptacle. Incorrect orientation will damage the
projector.
Power Switch
Turn on the power with the switch on the side panel.
Automatic Dark Screen Shutter
If white light projects onto the screen when the projector
is first turned on, press the Select Bar to engage the shutter.
Elevation Foot
The III models have a foot Release Button. Hold the projector

level the image on the screen
AutoFocus Switch

to ON.
Variable Timer Switch
Leave the timer on the side panel, below the Power Switch,

Changing Lamps on the
III models
* CAUTION: Lamp may be
hot. Allow lamp and projector to cool *
Press the latch on the
lamp housing door and slowly pull until the lamp module stops.
Push the lamp-ejector
lever down and away from the retaining clip. Then raise the lever,
latch it in the rear position, and remove the lamp.
Insert the new lamp loosely
into the two slots of the lamp socket. Do not touch the inside
glass surface of the new lamp.
Unlatch the lamp-ejector
lever, move it forward, and press gently on the lamp base until
the lamp seats tightly.
Push the lamp module back
into the projector, turn on the power, and continue showing slides.
-
Jammed Tray on III Models
Move the power switch
to off and push the select bar down. Usually the slide will come
up into the tray. If the slide is damaged, it may not drop into
the projector.
If the slide does not
reseat in the tray, retract the tray-release latch in the center
of the tray. Hold it and lift the tray off (hold the metal Slide
Retainer Plate on the bottom of the tray).
Press the Select button
to remove the slide. Inspect it for damage.
Check the lock ring on
the tray. Then invert the tray and rotate the Slide Retainer Plate
until it locks.
Turn the tray upright,
remove the lock ring, and reinsert the slide if it is not damaged.
Replace the lock ring. Reinstall the tray. Use the Select Button
to rotate the tray manually to the desired location and resume
projection.
-
Other Model III Features
The Select Bar will allow
the slide tray to be moved manually whether the power is on or
off. When the power is off, press the Select Bar past the first
detent to it's lowermost position. If the projector is unplugged,
the power switch must be set at OFF for the Select Bar to operate.
Remove the lens. Grasp
the viewer handle and pull it into operation position. To close
the viewer, press the hinged mirror gently against the screen.
Lower the screen and mirror into the viewer base. Slide the viewer
back into the projector.

Instructions for Elmo Omnigraphic Slide Projectors

Installed in most auditorium
projection booths and projection cabinets.
Automatic Lamp Changer: If main
lamp burns out, second lamp snaps into place.
Focus by
turning the focusing knob on the projector.
The remote control focus is really a "mini-focus." It moves the
entire focusing mechanism forward and backward within the projector.
Holding the focus button on the remote makes the mechanism travel
the entire focusing distance and repeat the travel. In other words,
it doesn't turn the focusing knob, which can be problematic if
the focus is outside the mini-focus area. An assistant will need
to stand near the projector and use the focus knob if focusing
is a problem. |

|
Remove
the slide tray when the "0" mark is aligned with the gate index mark.
Press the "Select" button to rotate the tray if needed. |

|
If a slide mount is
caught in the gate and the tray jams, proceed as follows.
- Push the tray-removal lever
in the center of the tray mount.
- Carefully lift the tray (note: slides may fall out from bottom) and turn
it upside down.
- Remove the jammed slide.
- Turn the bottom plate on the slide tray until it locks in place.
- Turn the tray right side up and open the locking ring.
- If the slide is not damaged, return it to its slot and attach the locking
ring.
- Replace tray on projector, press "Select" button, and rotate tray to desired
slide to continue showing.
