Basic Operation
Instructions for all Overhead Projectors
-
Place the projector
on a flat, steady surface.
-
The farther
the projector is from the screen, the larger the image.
Overheads with a standard 14" lens should be about 8 -
10 ft from the screen for a 6' wide image.
-
Connect
the power cord to an electrical outlet. If
the projector is on a cart with an electrical
extension, check the plugs for both the projector
and the cart.
|
NOTE:
Most projectors use a 3-pronged, grounded plug. The use of adapters
is not recommended. However, if no grounded outlet is available,
have a trained electrician install the adapter and check the
wiring to be certain there is no shock hazard.
CAUTION:
Improper use of grounded plugs (including removing the third
pin) may cause damage to the unit and personal injury to the
operator. |
|
A projector
with a 2-position switch (on/off) will have a thermostatically
controlled fan.
The fan keeps running after the switch is placed in the off position.
*** Do not
unplug the projector while the fan is running. ***
Allow the
projector to cool before moving it. |
Adjust
Focus with the focusing knob. Most focusing knobs are attached
either to the lens head or the arm.
The lens
head moves up or down the support post as the focusing knob
is turned. |
 |
Adjust
the image vertically on the screen by tilting either the head
at the top of the arm or the mirror on the head.
Adjust the
image horizontally by moving the projector right or left. |
 |
- If the lamp burns
out, the projector has a Quick Change Lamp lever. Some are easy to
see, the one in this picture is well hidden. Look for an instruction
sign on the projector, too.
Turn
off the lamp.
Find the lever.
Move it to the opposite position.
Turn on the lamp.
See individual projector information for specifics. Call CIS at 956-8075
for assistance or replacement lamp.

Acetate Rolls
Overhead projectors
in selected auditoriums are equipped with a roll of clear transparent
material that can be written on using the CIS supplied grease
pencils. Water soluble markers may also be used to write or draw
on the acetate.
*** DO NOT use permanent markers because the acetate rolls are cleaned
and recycled. *** Most acetate
rolls are installed so hand-written material rolls off the top
of the projector and clean acetate rolls on from the bottom.
Material can be returned to the platen by rolling the acetate
back to that section.
