Help with Your Classroom

The Center for Instructional Support is charged with monitoring the classroom environment of nearly 200 general-use classrooms and auditoriums on the UH Mānoa campus. Among the items monitored include:

  • Chairs (up to the posted maximum seating capacity)
  • Instructor’s chairs and/or tables
  • Table-top lecternettes or podiums
  • Chalkboards or marker/whiteboards
  • Electrical switches and outlets
  • Projection screens
  • Classroom lighting controls
  • Air conditioning systems (if available)
  • Blinds or Shades for room darkening

How to Report Problems?

Faculty and staff are encouraged to report any problems regarding the classroom equipment or environment through our Report Trouble page or by calling CIS at 956-8075. CIS will act as a liaison with the appropriate UHM office. You may also contact UHM offices directly.

 For facility-related emergencies, contact:

  • Work Coordination Center, 956-7134 (During normal business hours (7:20am to 4:20pm, Monday through Friday, except State holidays)
  • Department of Public Safety, 956-6911 (During non-business hours (open 24 hours/7 days a week)

For safety-related emergencies, contact:

For general classroom maintenance, contact:

Services include, among others:

  • Clean up of spillage (except for hazardous materials)
  • Emptying waste baskets
  • Floor cleaning
  • Light bulb replacement
  • Chalk and Chalkboard or markers and whiteboard supplies (two erasers per room)
  • Supplying appropriate number of chairs

For repair and maintenance of physical facilities, contact:

Services include, among others:

  • Key and lock service
  • Repairs and alterations to buildings
  • Repair and maintenance of air conditioning units
  • General maintenance, repair and/or installation of chalkboards, marker/whiteboards, electrical switches and outlets, projection screens, lights and lighting controls, and blinds and shades for room darkening.
